China (dpa) – China’s foreign trade saw significant growth again in June.
Exports increased by 32.2 per cent year-on-year to a value of around 281 billion dollars, Beijing’s customs authority announced Tuesday.
Imports rose by 36.7 per cent to around 230 billion dollars.
Both growth rates surpassed analysts’ expectations.
China has long since overcome the coronavirus pandemic and trade is booming again.
The economy grew by 18.3 per cent in the first three months of the year compared to a year earlier.
The growth figures for the second quarter are expected on Thursday.
The government in Beijing is following a so-called zero-Covid strategy. With restrictions on movement, mass testing, contact tracing, quarantine and strict entry restrictions, the country has the virus largely under control.
There have been only several small outbreaks since last summer, which has allowed everyday life and the economy to normalize.
