Beijing (dpa-AFX) – China’s manufacturing sector growth eased in June, reports said citing survey data from the National Bureau of Statistics on Wednesday. The manufacturing Purchasing Managers’ Index fell to 50.9 in June from 51.0 in May. However, a score above 50.0 indicates expansion in the sector and also remained above economists’ forecast of 50.8. At the same time, the non-manufacturing PMI that measures the performance of services and construction activity, declined to 53.5 in June from 55.2 a month ago. The private Purchasing Managers’ survey data from IHS Markit and Caixin is due on July 1.

Copenhagen (dpa-AFX) – Denmark’s jobless rate decreased in May, figures from Statistics Denmark showed on Wednesday. The gross unemployment rate decreased to a seasonally adjusted 4.0 per cent in May from 4.5 per cent in April. The gross unemployment fell by 13,900 to 115,300 in May from 129,200 in the preceding month. This was the largest monthly decline in unemployment since January 2007, the agency said. The youth jobless rate, which is applicable to the 16 to 24 age group, declined to 1.6 per cent in May from 1.7 percent in the previous month.

Amsterdam (dpa-AFX) – Dutch retail sales remained stable in May, data published by the Central Bureau of Statistics showed Wednesday. Retail turnover adjusted for the composition of shopping days grew 9.7 per cent an annual basis in May, the same as was seen in April. Turnover in food stores fell 0.9 per cent yearly in May, while non-food stores increased 15.8 per cent. Online turnover surged 16.0 per cent. Sales in the clothing and shoes, and leather goods increased for the third straight month in May, the agency said. Retail sales volume gained 9.3 per cent in May.
Brussels (dpa-AFX) – A leading indicator of the turning points in Switzerland’s economy fell unexpectedly in June, but the reading remained strong overall. The Swiss Economic Barometer dropped to 133.4 from 143.7 in May, which was revised from 143.2, survey results from the Zurich-based think tank KOF showed Wednesday. Economists had forecast a higher score of 144.7 for June.
