Bamako (dpa) – Mali’s transport department confirmed that 37 people had been killed and several were seriously injured in a road accident in Zambougou, north of the capital of Bamako, on Tuesday.
The department said in a short statement that the number was provisional, and that Minister of Transport and Infrastructure Dembele Madina Sissoko was visiting the scene.
No further details about the accident were initially available.
Road accidents often occur in the former French colony in West Africa because of the poor state of the roads.
